Electroplating Visit, Shahibaug

Under the subject named 'Jewellery Techniques I' , students are taken to the electroplating industry to understand this process of surface ornamentation and how electroplating is done on metals like brass and copper.

Kutch Visit

Year: 2018

Under the Subject named 'Design Project II', students are taken for the craft visit at various places where this year it was Kutch, Gujarat. Learning & knowledge about various crafts & textiles of Gujarat like Rogan art, Ajrak block printing, Bandhani & Leheriya, Leather products takes place. Students have a hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of all the crafts. The visit is as long as a week i.e. 6-7 days including travelling to-fro.

Kundan Industry Visit, Chandkheda

Year: 2018

Students visit the unit of kundan jewellery to understand the making and the entire process involved from making the khaka to the finished jewellery. This trip is a part of the design project involving Indian traditional jewellery.

Khambat Visit

Year: 2018

Students are taken every year to the agate processing and polishing industry in Khambat where they get an exposure to a world of gemstones. They get to see and buy a range of products developed from agates. This visit is a part of the gemology course.

Vechar Museum, Ahmedabad

Year: 2019

Students are taken to the famous Vechar Utensils museum for a holistic development, This visit is also done to get them an exposure to usage of forms and their development into certain products.

Jaipur Visit

Year: 2019

Students of Jewellery design along with students of product design went to visit the leather industry of Jaipur, where the students got a hands on experience with dealing with the material and making of various prototypes.

Ferozabad Glass Industry

Year: 2019

Glass making industry is very famous in Ferozabad. Here students got to learn all the processes involved in glass products making. They also interacted with the kaarigars and got to know the nuances involved. Students of jewellery design also made a few pieces of jewellery out of glass.

India International Jewellery Show, Mumbai

Year: 2019

Every year the IIJS takes place at Goregaon, Mumbai. This exhibition involves jewellery manufacturers, retailors, traders, designers, wholesalers, all from national and international forefronts. This exhibition takes place in a very large scale. The purpose of this visit is to give the students an understanding and exposure to the international market trends.

Manufacturing Unit, Old Ahmedabad

Year: 2019

The purpose of this visit is to make the students learn the practicalities involved in jewellery manufacturing in terms of processes involved like cutting, filing, soldering, pickling, buffing and polishing. Students get to interact with the kaarigars to know every thing in details.

Jaipur Visit

Year: 2020

Under the Subject named 'Design Project II', students are taken for the craft visit at various places where this year it was Jaipur, Rajasthan. Learning & knowledge about various crafts & textiles of Rajasthan like Bagru block printing, Dabu block printing, Blue pottery, Leather products takes place. Students have a hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of all the crafts. The visit is as long as a week i.e. 6-7 days including travelling to-fro.

Kirit Zaveri

Year: 2021

Students were taken to visit the famous Jewellery and designer Mr. Kirit Zaveri, where he introduced the students to his entire collection of precious as well as semi precious gemstones. He also showed his contribution of designs he had made for the jewellery industry.

Gujarat Gold Jewellery Show, Gandhinagar

Year: 2021

Students were taken to visit the Gujarat Gold Jewellery Show held in Gandhinagar during the month of December. Learning by observation and interaction are significant aspects of design education. Students got to see contemporary trends and styles prevailing in the current jewellery industry.

Casting Visit, Shahibaug

Year: 2022

Students were taken to a casting unit at Shahibaug, where they got to observe and learn all the processes involved during casting of jewellery. Processes like silicon moulding, wax injecting,wax tree making, dewaxing, metal pouring and final piece making, is thouroughly explained to the students.

Khambat Visit

Year: 2022

The Visit to the agate cutting and polishing industry of Khambat is very vast. Along with it, this time the students were also taken to the diamond and ruby cutting and polishing units there. Students had a great time collecting lots of items of agate and various gemstones.

YMCA

Year: 2022

Every year various exbihitions of jewellery takes place at YMCA, Ahmedabad. Visiting such exhibitions is also a part of the curriculum where students have a holistic approach towards as aspects of the industry. The exhibition had wholesalers and retailors from Mumbai, Surat, Rajkot, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, etc.
